| Introduced in 2007, the Art Hoose proved to be a highly
popular innovation with its exhibition of regional artists and sculptors
interspersed by live demonstrations of them at work. Biographies of those
who will inhabit the art hoose in 2008 are presented below

My latest paintings include local coastal scenes as well as closeups of
shells, seaweed and pebbles on the beach. I use watercolour, acrylic, oil
and pastel for most of my work. Originally from Brechin, I graduated from
Duncan of Jordanstone Art school in 1965, and took early retirement from
teaching at Peterhead Academy eight years ago.

I deserted a career in dentistry to study Art. Fascinated by the richness
of fabric and thread, during a Foundation year at Mansfield, I went on to
study Embroidery and Textiles at the London College of Fashion. I have
exhibited widely, with solo exhibitions in London and Glasgow, and
Aberdeenshire, where I now live. My images combine embroidery and fabrics
with other media, often gesso and paper. Recent inspiration has come from
travels in Rajasthan.

My pictures reflect my appreciation and love of life and the landscape.
My husband and I have farmed locally since 1980. I trained at the Slade in
London and generally work in oils, which produce the best brilliancy and
subtlety. You can see my work at

I trained at Gray's School of Art, Aberdeen, have taught Art and Design
at Fraserburgh Academy, and more recently teach painting and drawing at
evening classes and weekend workshops. My pictures are mainly of north east
coastal subjects around Pennan and Crovie, but recent work has been inspired
by the South of France and the villages of Collioure and Port Vendres. My

BRYAN ANGUS (Demonstrator)
I am a graduate from Gray's in Aberdeen and currently run The Creative
Retreat with my wife Carla, offering arts holidays in the charming coastal
village of Gardenstown. My work draws from the landscape of the North East
and also from deep within my imagination, expressed and explored in oils and
pastels. |

CARN STANDING (Demonstrator)
I have been painting and sculpting professionally for over 25 years, and
my greatest influence and inspiration is the natural world. I work mainly in
clay, bronze or stone aggregate, and my work has been shown in international
events and in collections across Britain. I moved to the North East in 2003
with my young family for the quality of life, love of the landscape and
sense of community. |
